Membership Policies

Membership is open to children aged between 10 months to 13 years old.
Parents or legal guardians must complete a registration form for each child wishing to join the swim school.
We are a members’ only privately run facility and your child can start lessons once membership has been accepted. Your child’s position in class is secured after depositing payment in advance.
Enrolment can start at any time and is ongoing until cancellation.
Memberships and lessons are not transferable.
Registration forms should include emergency contact information, medical history, and any special requirements or considerations for the child.
Registration fees, if applicable, must be paid upon enrolment.

A once-off membership fee of $35.00 per child is charged. This fee is non-refundable and is due and payable upon booking your child into lessons.
Group Lessons: $21.00 per lesson.
Private Lessons: $60.00 per lesson (1-on-1)
$65.00 /lesson (2-on-1).
Children attending 2 classes per week receive a 10% discount.
Families will receive a 10% discount for the third and subsequent siblings who are from the same household.
Discounts cannot be combined with other offers, only the largest will apply.
The cost of lessons may undergo a slight annual increase due to rising award rates for our teachers and increased overhead expenses. Rest assured; we will inform you of any changes.

10 Weeks upfront payment = $210
Direct debit = $21 x # of days in the month (processed on the 23rd monthly). Example 5 x Mondays in this calendar month equals $21 x 5 = $105
Credit card payments can be made online or at reception.
Cash payments can also be made at reception.
Bank transfers are also accepted.
Direct debit deduction will be made monthly from your nominated bank account or credit card on the 23rd (or next business day).
Membership is ongoing and debits will continue until a cancellation is made in accordance with our cancellation policy.
Please pay fees on time to avoid a late payment fee of $5.
Failed Payment Fee for Direct Debit payments will incur a $9.90 charge and you may also be charged a dishonour fee from your bank.
Please note any additional fees that are indicated on the Direct Debit Agreement form, including fees for declined debits.

Each calendar year, we offer up to 4 weeks of class hold, allowing your child to stay enrolled with their favorite instructors on your preferred day and time—at no cost. This free hold is perfect for holiday breaks or when you know in advance that your child will be away for an extended time.
Holds can be set on your account for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to a maximum of 4 weeks. To apply a hold, please notify us in advance of your extended leave so we can adjust your booking fees.
For absences longer than 4 weeks, group lesson enrolments can be extended for up to an additional 4 weeks at a rate of $5 per lesson. For private lessons, we recommend booking make-up classes to cover the extra time.

Classes are 30-minute lessons per child.
Each student will attend on the same day and time each week.
Akua Swim School does not open on public holidays and for up to two weeks during the Christmas/New Year period. You are not charged for these periods.
Class schedules will be determined by Akua Swim School and communicated to parents or legal guardians in advance.
Changes to the schedule will be communicated with as much notice as possible.
In an unlikely event that a class is cancelled, you will not be charged.
When your child is prepared to progress to the next stage of their swimming experience, we will look to accommodate your preferences. However, please note that we cannot assure specific class schedules or teachers.
We cannot guarantee teacher schedules.
Makeup classes may be offered for missed sessions, subject to availability and swim school policy.

Group lesson students are entitled to make-up lessons upon giving 2 hours’ notice of absence prior to the class.
Private lesson students are entitled to make-up lessons upon giving 24 hours’ notice of absence prior to the class.
All absences must be notified of via the Customer Portal or written notice.
All make-up lessons must be booked via the Customer Portal.
We offer two make-up lesson per calendar month for notified absences that comply with our policy.
If a make-up lesson is missed or not booked in, this lesson will be forfeited.
You cannot change the time of a make-up once you have booked it in.
Make-up lessons are valid for 31 days only from the date that the notified lesson was missed.
Make-up lessons are non-refundable or transferable.
Make-up lessons are subject to program availability. We do not guarantee you will be able to book a make up at a time and class will be available.
Missed private lessons can be made up in a group class.
Unused make-up lessons do not accumulate.
Unused make-up lessons are forfeited upon cancellation of membership.

Children are expected to behave respectfully towards instructors, staff, and fellow swimmers.
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for their children's behaviour and must ensure they adhere to the swim school's rules and regulations.
Any disruptive or inappropriate behaviour may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the swim school.
Inform staff on pre-existing illnesses and injuries or medical conditions.

The safety of all swimmers is of utmost importance.
Qualified instructors will provide supervision during all swimming sessions.
Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to remain on-site during their child's swimming lessons.
Members are responsible for their personal belongings. Lost belongings that are not recovered are donated to charity at the end of each month.

Children should not attend swimming lessons if they are unwell or have a contagious illness.
All children must adhere to proper hygiene practices.
Swim nappies are mandatory for children who are not toilet trained. (Swim nappies are available for purchase at reception.)
Exclusion of classes for two weeks after incidents of communicable illnesses .
Do not bring food and glass containers to the pool area.

Akua Swim School will maintain open communication with parents or legal guardians regarding their child's progress, schedule changes, or any concerns that may arise.
Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to communicate any questions or concerns they may have with the swim school management promptly.
Please inform staff on changes of personal details, such as contact information and payment details.

Cancellations are accepted with two (2) weeks’ written notice. Paid fees are not refunded.
Direct Debit payment cancellations require a notice of two (2) weeks prior to the end of the month or the scheduled Direct Debit date.
10 Week Pre-Payment cancellations require two (2) weeks’ notice prior to the end of the 10-week block (at lesson number 8)
If two consecutive classes are missed and there has been no communication from the family, Akua Swim School reserves the right to cancel the membership and you will not be entitled to a refund.
Akua Swim School reserves the right to cancel a child's membership for repeated violations of the membership policy or disruptive behaviour.
Refunds will not be issued for cancelled memberships.

You are only permitted to capture images or record conversations of other individuals with their explicit consent or the consent of their parents.
No cameras allowed in change room areas and showers.
You need to comply with staff requests to discontinue camera use if someone’s privacy is breached.
We may wish to use images and/or video footage of students for promotional and/or educational purposes, i.e. website, promotional flyers, social media, staff education. Please notify us in writing if you do not wish to have your/your child’s image used.

This membership policy may be amended from time to time at the discretion of the swim school management.
Any changes to the policy will be communicated to parents or legal guardians in writing or via email.
By enrolling your child with Akua Swim School, parents or legal guardians acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by the terms outlined in this membership policy.
